Maintenance Changes For The 2007.5 Dodge Ram Turbo Diesel.
The brand-new 2007.5 Dodge Ram Heavy Duty pickup with the 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel engine features some changes in the maintenance schedule. The vehicle is equipped with an engine oil change indicator system. The system alerts you when it is time to change the engine oil by displaying the words "Oil Change Required" on the Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC). The engine oil change indicator system is duty-cycle based, which means that the oil change interval may fluctuate depending on your driving style. The maximum number of miles between oil change intervals is 7,500 (12,000 km). Driving styles such as frequent stop-and-go driving can increase the frequency of the engine oil change interval.

The new Cummins 6.7-liter Turbo Diesel engine requires low-ash engine oil; failure to use this type of oil can result in serious damage to the exhaust aftertreatment system in the vehicle. So owners need to be sure to purchase engine oil that meets CES 20081 standards and has a maximum 1.00 mass percent content of sulfated ash.

The valve lash adjustment remains the same at 150,000 miles (240,000 km), and the fuel filter replacement remains at 15,000 miles (24,000 km).

In addition, it's important to know that diesel fuel sold for off-highway use should not be used in your truck. The fact is that off-highway fuels do not necessarily meet the fuel cleanliness or lubricity requirements for on-highway fuel specifications. Use of such off-highway fuels can result in accelerated wear to fuel system components.
